Tremendous Success of the 3rd NGMN Industry Conference & Exhibition 2010
Shanghai (China) / Frankfurt (Germany), June 5th, 2010 - First time for the NGMN Industry Conference & Exhibition to take place in Asia, from 2-4 June 2010 in Shanghai, China.
The 3rd NGMN Industry Conference proved to be a tremendous success - established as a key event for the mobile industry, at this year's Industry Conference and Exhibition attendees enjoyed an outstanding line-up of speakers and panellists, gained first-hand insights into technology challenges and future strategies, and were treated to an exhibition floor with world-premier next generation solutions. More than 400 senior management attendees, press representatives and analysts were already present at the Grand NGMN Demo Night on the evening of 2nd June and throughout the conference.

At the NGMN Demo Night, China Mobile and its vendor partners presented the launch of the commercial TD-LTE End-to-End Solution in a release ceremony. After an industry status overview by ZTE and a brief introduction to all vendor solutions showcased on the exhibition floor, the NGMN Exhibition was officially opened: Worldwide leading vendor partners of the NGMN Alliance showed live demonstrations of their latest next generation products at the NGMN Demo Night and throughout the conference. |

NGMN Industry Conference 3 - 4 June
On 3rd June, the NGMN Industry Conference was inaugurated with welcome notes by Mr. Ku Wen, Director-General, MIIT and Mr. Jianzhou Wang, the chairman and CEO of China Mobile. Vivek Badrinath, the chairman of NGMN Alliance and EVP & CEO Business Services at FT/Orange welcomed the attendees to the 3rd NGMN Industry Conference & Exhibition giving an overview of NGMN Alliance's achievements and the way forward.

NGMN Industry Conference & Exhibition 2010 programme
The following keynote session was presented by executive representatives from China Mobile, Telecom Italia, Ericsson and Huawei. The top-level speakers not only showed the status and achievements of the LTE rollout but also highlighted the remaining challenges, key success factors and the main efficiency levers for the coming months.

Trials & Deployment, Network Migration & Operations The introduction by the NGMN Alliance Trial Working Group Chair gave an overview on global LTE trials and deployment. NTT DOCOMO and Telia Sonera presented their deployment strategies and first experiences from commercial operations, and major infrastructure vendors provided insights on solutions and innovations tailored to specific network deployment scenarios, including TD/FDD LTE rollout and Femtocells. In the session on "Network Migration and Operations", speakers discussed successful migration strategies for radio, core networks and backhaul and presented ways to enhance operational efficiency (SON, RAN and backhaul operations). One of the central topics in the discussions were the various potential issues that would come with prevailing heterogeneous networks, both reflected from an operator and vendor perspective.
Trends in Devices, Consumer Electronics and Applications The second day of the NGMN Industry Conference focused on "Trends in Devices, Consumer Electronics and Applications". Keynote speakers from Nokia, Google, China Mobile, and Samsung provided insights into their vision on the development of the mobile web ecosystem, how LTE powers mobile internet devices and services, and the emerging role of consumer electronics for the mobile industry.
Mobile Broadband Devices, Applications & Service Enablement Leading chipset and device manufacturers gave an update in the "Mobile Broadband Devices" session on features, performance, and latest technology trends for next generation mobile devices. Furthermore, the speakers examined the increasingly important smartphone and CE sector with their specific challenges and rapidly changing business requirements. In the era of mobile data explosion, different service approaches for operators and vendors were presented in the session on "Mobile Applications & Service Enablement". Following an introduction from the mobile developers' point of view, speakers discussed the evolution of mobile applications and platforms, and how an application enablement strategy could foster the creation and delivery of Web 2.0 services in the mobile ecosystem. | ||

Industry Outlook & Innovations The "Industry Outlook & Innovations" session was opened with a speech on the opportunities of future M2M services and the current technology and standardisation challenges and gaps. In the following presentations, participants gained insights into chipset innovations and research trends, business impact and implementation aspects of cognitive radio. An outlook on the research portfolio of leading telecom vendors touched upon smart grids, intelligent applications, SON innovations and green technology.
Driving Industry and Technology Development through SDOs and Associations The concluding panel session featured the co-operation partners of the NGMN Alliance discussing the role of SDOs and Associations in driving further technology development and innovation, and driving the mobile industry as such.
